Hosting Greek Teachers for an Erasmus Programme in Ireland: A Week of Enlightening Experiences

We were delighted to host eight esteemed teachers from the SDE Mytilene School in Greece as part of their Erasmus Programme in Ireland. This insightful and enriching week took place in the vibrant city of Cork, where the focus was on Adult Education within an Intercultural Environment.

The week-long programme was meticulously designed to provide the visiting educators with a comprehensive understanding of the educational landscape in Ireland, especially within the context of intercultural dynamics. The training sessions and seminars were tailored to highlight the best practices in Adult Education, ensuring that the participants could draw valuable lessons to implement in their home country.

Central to their experience was a series of seminars led by the expert educator, Chatrine. Her sessions were profoundly insightful, offering an in-depth look at the methodologies and strategies employed in Irish education to foster a more inclusive and effective learning environment. Chatrine’s expertise and engaging approach left a lasting impression on the visiting teachers, who found her guidance extremely beneficial for their professional development.

Additionally, the teachers had the privilege of meeting Olivia, the Policy and Communications Manager at Nasc, the Migrant and Refugee Rights Centre in Cork. Olivia’s session was particularly impactful, as it provided the participants with a nuanced understanding of Ireland’s immigration situation, along with its laws and policies. This discussion was crucial in highlighting the challenges and opportunities faced by migrants and refugees in Ireland, thereby enriching the teachers’ perspectives on intercultural education.

The programme also included visits to various educational institutions and cultural landmarks in Cork City, offering the Greek teachers a holistic view of the local culture and educational practices. These visits were instrumental in showcasing the diversity and vibrancy of Cork, further enhancing the intercultural exchange.

In conclusion, the Erasmus Programme in Cork was a resounding success, providing the teachers from SDE Mytilene with invaluable experiences and knowledge. We are proud to have facilitated this exchange and look forward to future collaborations that continue to promote intercultural understanding and educational excellence.
