Life is not black and Wight

Walking around the Portsmouth pier, with your neck painful for having admired the really tall Spinnaker Tower, you get lost with your gaze fixed upon the distant horizon and are captured from that strip of land in the distance that welcomes ships, ferries and small boats like a generous mother.
It’s the Isle of Wight, man!
And, yes, Wight is Wight (and I bet the older ones will already be singing with a baritone voice the song by Michel Delpech).
Besides being chosen by Queen Victoria as her residence (in fact it’s where the sovereign died in 1901) and dubbed as “England in miniature” because of its numerous landscapes, the island is famous because every summer hosts the music festival of the same name.
Born in 1968 and suspended in 1970 after only three editions, the festival was reborn in 2002 and has seen performers like , among others, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, The Who, Bruce Springteen, R.E.M. and Rolling Stones.
If you have a rock n ‘roll spirit and want to share it with hundreds of thousands of people, this is the place for you!
From Portsmouth it takes only 40 minutes by ferry. Easy, right?
So if you are in the city of Dickens during the festival period, you know what to do: take your camera, warm your heart and vocal chords and join the chorus!
